Indigo Compacts: The KDR solution

Knockdown Rebuilds

Knockdown rebuilds are a growing trend – and with that is the growing trend in smaller lots and compact living.

Knockdown rebuilds, or KDRs, are all about modernising – but also cashing in. Owners are keen to maximise the cash gain by knocking down one old house and building two or more in its place, a significant contributor to the rise of the small lot.

Indigo’s Compact homes are one of the most popular solutions in Brisbane for compact living. They are designed especially for the increasingly popular smaller suburban lot.

But they pack an impressive amount into their restricted space, not to mention their big bonuses when it comes to sustainability and affordability.

Indigo Compacts: clever spaces

Not all builders have embraced compact living with a range that’s designed to suit everyone, from singles and couples to small and big families. Many will sacrifice the yard and outdoor space for a bigger house that fills the entire plot.

Not all builders have embraced compact living with a range that’s designed to suit everyone, from singles and couples to small and big families. Many will sacrifice the yard and outdoor space for a bigger house that fills the entire plot.

Indigo’s Compacts, however, are not about compromise. Their secret is in maximising indoor living space without sacrificing the outdoor living space.

Designed for the 10m-wide lot, their clever floor plans pack in three or four bedrooms, open plan living, al fresco rooms, double garages and space for a second living area or study in some designs.

Indigo’s most popular Compact homes

The most popular Indigo Compact is the Caribbean 248 – winner of the Small Lot Housing category at the 2010 Master Builders Association’s Brisbane region Housing and Construction Awards. It includes four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a lounge, an al fresco area and a separate family room upstairs.

Indigo’s Laguna 235 is another popular Compact, with its central ‘media room’ upstairs providing a focal point as a relaxation area – and also acting as a privacy divider between the master bedroom and the three other bedrooms.
